Learning From (The Spain) Experience

I’ve traveled a great deal and have been to most major cities in the United States.

But one year I decided to expand my horizons and spend a week in Spain. I’m not sure why, since I don’t speak Spanish.

I booked a room at a hotel described in a travel guide as “rustic” and, soon after I got off the plane began what I have always thought of as my “Spain Hotels Learning Experience.”

A cab driver delivered me to the door of what looked like a tenement, complete with crumbling walls and algae in the pool.

Fortunately I found an inexpensive room at a cozy little hotel and I actually did have a pleasant vacation.

But these days I make a point to get recent pictures and lots of references before I book.
