Thailand and the Philippines are the main countries involved in the infamous mail-order-bride system. Most women who enlist themselves into this system are those who are driven by ambition to get out of the Philippines and live in America. Asian brides women usually hail from the outskirts of the city, didn’t finish high school and in most cases are pushed by their own family to marry an American, sign-up for the Asian Bride website in the hopes of finding prince charming who will take her (and the whole kinfolk) out from the bondage of poverty. They are hoping for a Cinderella Story, where a handsome blonde will rescue them from the laborious job of farming and living an impoverished life in the Philippines.
