Women with Herpes

If you’re female and concerned with the possibility that you just contracted genital herpes, within 20 days of the viral shedding, you may have the following symptoms. The first symptoms of herpes in women may be a mild tingling and burning in the vaginal area. Shortly after, the rectum, clitoris, cervix, and vagina can all develop blisters.  Frequently, urinating can be painful and there is a watery urethral discharge.  Expect these painful outbreaks to last anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks. As a woman, it’s important to have regular pap smears.  It’s even more important if you’re a woman with a STD such as herpes as genital herpes infections do increase the risk of cervical cancer.
