Bowel Resection: Colon Cancer Surgery
There are a large number of colon cancer patients all over the world who has been accepting the surgery as a preferable treatment for a long time. When it comes to colon cancer surgery, bowel resection is known as the widely-used treatment for colon cancer.
During this procedure, the operation is performed through a slit in the abdomen that is used to eliminate all the affected cancerous cells from that part of the body. Generally, the doctors also try to remove the surrounding tissues to ensure that there are no cancerous tissues left behind. After that, the ends of the intestine or bowel are joined together with sutures. This procedure is known as anastomosis.
