An Opinion On “Medicare Database Offers Window Into Doctor Fraud and Abuse”
It is not about who pays what, it is about the cost of the procedures health and medicine the fees the doctors expect. There is no reason for a doctor’s visit to cost $300 for 15 minutes. There is no reason for hospitals to charge $/1000/day. And if the consumer had to pay for his own hospitalization, no one would ever go to a hospital and the hospitals would have to drop their prices. What keeps the cost of medicine high is the fact that the consumer is not involved in his own payments.
The first thing they ask when you call a doctor for an appointment is do you have insurance. Some doctors refuse to see patients who don’t have insurance. Hospitals the same, except if you go in through the emergency rooms. What kind of greedy and corrupt medicine do we have?!? Honestly, I would like to see Canada-style medicine in this country.
